Serving as a Trustee has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. Collaborating with students, families, educators, staff, community organizations, and my Board colleagues, I have championed strong public education and driven initiatives that empower student success, well-being, safety, and inclusion. STUDENT SUCCESS
Contributed to efforts for a National School Food Program that resulted in a historic federal commitment.
Advanced investment in Special Education.
Supported the TDSB Math and Early Literacy Strategy.
Strengthened Mental Health and Addictions initiatives.
Supported the cell phone ban in classrooms.
SAFE & INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS
Led the Community Safety Table, bringing together school leadership, community organizations, public health, faith leaders, City representatives, and local partners.
Advanced the Combating Hate and Racism Student Learning Strategy.
Supported Contemporary First Nations, Métis and Inuit Voices becoming a secondary course.
Advocated for additional Elementary Vice-Principals and Secondary Safety Monitors.
STRONG PUBLIC EDUCATION
Advocated for increased and sustainable provincial funding each and every year to remove the structural deficit.
Supported advocacy to recover pandemic-related costs from the province.
Supported improved reporting on racism, bias and hate.
Supported protecting children and youth through restrictions on gambling advertising.
RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE
Supported TDSB in revising bylaws and procedures to improve Trustee governance.
Contributed to shaping the TDSB Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
Supported the Toronto Lands Corporation Strategic Plan.
Supported annual reporting on student attendance.
Member of standing committees including Finance, Budget and Enrolment.
